someone told me i should watch it. it is now my second favorite anime.

I watched all 75 eps and i STILL dont understand it! But the show is amazing

Its a supernatual (in the way that Sai was in Hikaru's cosence) and other than that, its a drama/comedy. I recommend it!

Is it kind of like YU-Yu-Hakusho? you know where they mix spirt and reality, or is it more of like the conscience is making side comments? And what do you mean by it's hard to understand?
on a scale of one to ten where 10 makes it BoBo-Bo-BoBoBo-Bo and one makes it like a VCR manual which kind of hardness?

i read the manga andplay a lil of go but still kinnda suck at it. i didnt watch the anime since some ppl told me that the anime didnt go as far as the manga went. for the manga...i didnt like or understand the ending of it.

Been watching this anime for a while now and this has really drawn me in. It also made me learn Go, my rank is about 19 Kyu.

It doesn't take that long to learn the basics of Go well enough to play and while it's not necessary, It did increase my enjoyment of the anime.

I think the manga is pretty cool, never watched the anime though. but i kinda understand go, Im just not that good

The manga was really something. You don't have to watch the anime to appreciate the story of Go and the process in attaining the Hand of God. I remembering downloading the first 2 volumes and after that all brakes were loose, and I couldn't fall asleep for the rest of the night as I addictedly clicked page after page, just 1 more...



The rivalry between the people playing Go, as hard it is to believe, is 100 times more fascinating than the rivalry between our 2 favourite heroes, Naruto and Sasuke.

How can watching a guy play a board game be that interesting?

Hah, I thought that some thing. The people here also thought that. But for some reason, it was one of the best animes I have ever seen. If you dont believe me, it wouldnt kill you to go to anime-eden.com and download the first episode or two. Give it a chance, I was definitely apprehensive at first, and had no idea what the hell Go was, except that it was a Japanese board game.

How much different is the manga ending than the anime ending? Because I saw the one in the anime, and though it ended a little early. I mean, I understand why they ended it where they did, but he definitely had a long journey from then on.

If you want to play go on a good server, go here (http://www.gokgs.com/). I played here for a while, and it is a great place to go. Lots of good players, so be prepared to lose a lot, until you get better. If you are like 12 or 13 years old, dont expect to win a game for quite a while, unless you find someone new also.

I played for a while (until college became a ton of work), and probably rank around a 17 or 18 kyu. I dont really understand the ranking system that much, but this is probably where I would play evenly with the other guys.

Its definitely an excellent series. If not for the Go, the character development is great. Its also very interesting to watch Hikaru with his struggle.

And for those of you asking how hard it is to understand. The anime is easy to understand, the subtitles are very informative and tel you all about the world of Go. understanding Go on the other hand is very difficult (easy to learn basic concept), and takes years to get good at. Im about a 16 or 17 kyu rating when I played, and it still felt overwhelming the amount of thought needed to play. To be able to logically follow the ideas in the anime is impossible for someone who doesnt know Go. Although watching in the beginning where no one s pro yet, you can still see moves that people made that were obviously terrible life and death decisions.

i agree, hikaru no go is amazing, and it's so intense and interesting too, though i wish they kept going though I know they have an OVA after the series, and that's about it, but other than that, the series is awesome!

Yeah, the manga didn't go far past the tournament either, though I read that there was to be a short saga of HNG 'this' summer. Though I don't know to what date 'this' referrs to. Hopefully after they get more material they'll make another OVA.

i thought the very same thing but all in all its very interesting anime its somthing about it thats makes it interesting lol also it end early so to fully understand it try downloading the manga at mangaspot.com itll really give the ending u were looking for and for who didnt understand it sai comes back into hikaru once hikaru realizes the meaning of why sai left sort to speak or at least thats pretty much what i got out of it id reconmend to neone =D

haven't watched the anime of it, only the manga, and the ending was horrible, too many plot-shortcomings for my taste,

I'd give it a 7/10 that's how much the ending ruined it.
