Samurai Champloo Review

One day, two wandering samurais, Mugen and Jin, meet in a teahouse and clash their swords together only to test each other's abilities. But the battle is soon postponed when one crazy samurai sets the entire teahouse on fire. The magistrate's son was killed in the fire and the town's magistrate has ordered the two samurais to be arrested for intervening. A young teahouse waitress, named Fuu, helps them escape their execution trial but there is one small catch. Mugen and Jin must help Fuu find the samurai that has the scent of the sunflowers and postpone their battle until they do so.

I, myself have seen all 26 episodes of Samurai Champloo. And for all of you Cowboy Bebop fans, I highly reccommend you check out this anime. Shinchiro Watanabe has truly outdone himself. For those of you, that don't know what the term "champloo" means; In Okinawa, Champloo means "strifry" or "mix of things." And that's exactly what Samurai Champloo is, it's a stirfry in how it mixes the present with it's Edo era to give it a hiphop feel. It's a funny samurai anime with a hip hop twist. You can tell by watching the first episode, in how it uses turntable scratching to change scenes and the breakdancing Mugen. The series actually could of been longer, but it wasn't get that much hype in Japan so it had an abrupt ending. Nonetheless, It's an excellent anime worth your time. This is my favorite anime and I'd be bias if I gave it a 10. Since the ending was kind of abrupt...9/10. Check it out some time.

really like how they blend this anime with some rap...only thing im really waiting for is a long fight maybe a 2-3 esp fighting...other then that its 9/10

I haven't seen all th episodes, but from what I've seen this is a good anime. 8/10 from me.

Good anime, solid story, and plenty of humor.

yea i watched this show sometime on cartoon network and it was excelent for being a dub.

i thought that this anime was awesome. the only annoying thing was that the fighting sequences (though amazing!!!!) were sort of drawn out instead of making them continuous. It was funnier thatn hell i'll admit. I think that they should have dragged out certain parts though, like the fighting, besides that it was a solid 9 out of 10

great anime especially with the rap its awsome even dubbed

great anime.. and better soundtrack.. its took those people long enough to try something besides that sometimes disturbing j-pop.

Watch this one. It does seem a bit boring at first, but the ending episodes are FANTASTIC. I have never seen an anime like this save cowboy bebop. Slow start, but wonderful in the end. 9.5/10

yeah I have to agree with the crowd. SC is a great anime. The storyline isn't the greatest but this whole anime is more about the relationships. I highly recommend it 8/10

well i guess its unanimous. I thought it was awesome too.........the animation is some of the best I have seen........very smooth. I absolutely loved the mix of hip-hop and samurais. When you first hear those to words together you are like wtf but they did an awesome job utilizing the two.

It was a great series, really entertaining, good character development though i would have liked a little more backstory. Some really funny useless episodes, like the baseball, Useless but totally worth it. Soundtrack was great too.

much better than any other ninja/samurai anime ive seen(naruto, ninja scroll, rurouni kenshin) 9.5/10, the only thing its missing is more episodes
