Personality: Itachi is a rather cold character who shows little emotion. He cares for very few things and doesn’t like to concern himself with others. He is currently in league with a very dangerous organization Akatsuki. Itachi is considered to be an S rank ninja, and is currently the only person able to use Tsukuyomi. Actually he supposed to have a stronger tech compared to tsukuyomi. It's only been shown once but, all you get to see is the left over black fire. It's supposed to be called "amaterasu". I wish it shows that attack soon.

You stated that power corrupted Itachi, but am I the only one who noticed that Itachi joined ANBU at pretty much the same time he joined Akatsuki, I don't believe it was simply corruption or to test his abilities that made him wipe out the Uchiha clan. There is also a third mangekyou sharingan user (apparently) so it's likely that they can also use Tsukuyomi. Ad Itachi-Rebirth, I don't think that it is a requirment to be a sharingan user to be able to use amaterasu, correct me if I'm wrong.

Itachi mentions that other then himself and Sasuke (who he said had the potential to activate it) there was also a third, although there are only theories as to who that is.

Itachi is unique...he's totally unpredictable

we honestly don't know enough about him to figure out his intentions or his motivations - i'm under the impression that he's actually trying to take up the role of an older brother to Sasuke and motivate Sasuke to become stronger...but he seems to have problems expressing his emotions.

I highly doubt that power corrupted him. Why would he leave Sasuke alive then? I'm guessing that Itachi still cares for his little brother, or at least carries the burden of guilt on his shoulders.

He's incredibly powerful though, considering that he massacred the most powerful clan in Leaf in...ah...about one night. I have a horrible feeling that the Akatsuki could actually wipe out a hidden village on their own, with no other back up~but that's not a gaurentee-

he's still proven a ruthless killer...and he's a powerful member of the Akatsuki~ with all the contradicting information we're given on Itachi, it's hard to make any inferences about him. Apparently, his only weakness is that the Mangekyou Sharingan (and using Tsukiyomi for extended periods of time) wears him out rather quickly. Other than than, its almost impossible to fight him, especially because his Sharingan is activated almost 24/7

All in all, you can't deny Itachi's power or the calm, cold aura he radiates. He's overall one of the strongest characters we come across.

The Deal with him: Top member of secret society Akatsuki, who even Orochimaru admits is stronger than himself, Itachi is shrouded with mystery. He killed his whole family with the reason that it was to measure his strength. He left his little brother alive after screwing up his mind. Although it seemed that Itachi spared his brother so he could become stronger and thus a worthy opponent someday, we believe that somewhere deep in his very disturbed heart, he loves Sasuke in his own very weird fashion.

From someone who killed his whole family, Itachi is surprisingly unconfrontational and unbloodthirsty unlike how one would expect him to be. There were many incidents when he could have easily killed an adversary but instead left them heavily wounded and avoided as many fights as he could. Itachi has issues and it would be delightful when we finally find out why.

Itachi was considered the best ninja among his clan. His father, who took an active interest in his son's career, said Itachi was the "pipe" that connected the clan to his village.
Itachi mainly uses ninjutsu and genjutsu during battle, both of which are augmented by his Mangekyo Sharingan. In the former, Itachi's Mangekyou Sharingan allows him to use Amaterasu, a jutsu which creates black flames that are hotter than the sun and can penetrate any barrier. The few normal ninjutsu he uses aren't necessarily that powerful, but Itachi is able to use them so quickly that even another Sharingan user has trouble folowing the movements. Wit his Sharingan, Itachi is virtually imune to his opponent's genjutsu, simpy reversing it back upon them using the copy abilities of the Sharingan.With the Mangekyo Sharingan, Itachi can also use Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu which traps his opponent in an illusionary world. Though the main strategy to avoid the Sharingan is to avoid eye contact and focus on Itachi's feet or body, as mentioned by both Guy and Kakashi, even this is not a certain method of evading his techniques. By merely pointing at an oponent, Itachi can catch them in a powerful genjutsu.

The third user of mangekyou sharingan is believed to be Uchiha Madara, who is speculated to be the ultimate leader of the Akatsuki group. This is probably one of the reason why itachi join the group; his true capacity is yet to measure.
Kakashi can also used mangekyou sharinga (partially), which he has managed to copy during the battle with itachi at Konoha.
