What I mean by an award system I mean this for example:

500 posts award: The poster gets an icon (not like the ones we have now) under his avatar representing that person achieved 500 posts. Like something cool and it has the number 500 on it or something.

Then theirs one for 1,000 posts and so on. Plus awards for ppl contributing files, ppl winning GFX contests, sig of the week award, plus also having a member of the month, etc. The poster could show off multiple awards they have obtained under their avatar like a digital trophy case if you would but something in a good size to fit under their avatar, Icon, and information(group, posts, etc) All the way under "who is your favorite Naruto character.

I personally think it would be great to have that here as it would encourage users to post more often. What you guys think?

I will talk to vio about this. If we do this it has to do with coding and i can't do that yet.

Oh! Sounds fun! Will mods be able to get awards too? =P Just jokin', but I like the idea, Mitsuhide!

Thx guys. Np Triva, I just honestly think it will encourage more ppl to post here. In a way it will show appreciation and whatnot for people posting (no spamming of course). They will get something in return for their posts and contributions in this forum and be recognized for their work.
narutard4life
that sounds awesome, it would deffinately change things up here a bit

I've seen a few sites with similar things (The Escapist for one), badges, awards or trophies that you earn for doing certain things and it certainly seemed to stimulate growth. Almost like the achievement system on Xbox live.

Other idea's could be creating a topic with a certain number of replies/views. Maybe make it so only 1-3 could be shown (perhaps you could pick the ones you want) and make the complete list viewable in your profile page.

Unfortunately something like this probably a huge pain to implement for a small site such as this, especially if the forums do not natively support it. Also graphics for the awards would have to be created unless we blatantly stole another sites graphics. Does Vio have the resources and time to create something like this?

Still it's an awesome idea.

Can I get something like "achievement unlocked - annyoed a mod"? The older members will recall the Mouri Ran stuff.

Otherwise I don't think I will ever earn a reward lol!! XD

Nice to see that even being a member for only some months you are that worried about the site Mitsuhide. I could even try to do something on the subject, but I don’t know, I’m a massive newbie as far as website programming goes, even if I have experience as contributor in a finnish LOTR site before. I contacted Vio once about being a media administrator or such, but I had to concentrate on my studies before I got an answer. I would be kinda of an a** asking “hey, send your answer again”, I deleted my mailbox” haha.

I also worked in another LOTR site as “obsessive” (kinda the Guy to ask stuff about the series, traductor of fanfic and so on). Back there we had this kind of stuff, altough it was number of posts and the size of your threads that determined your achievements. I’d hope for something a little more variate as of now like you suggested.

You know, anyways I find this idea intersting. Achievements and trophies became standard this console generation simple because humans have a natural tendency to collect stuff. In a forum would be no different, and could estimulate people to join the community or post more often like you said.Oh, and if I recall correctly, my “strongest ninja thread” from years ago had over 100 replies. I deserve a big achievement, if that system ever be installed on the site haha.

Well its been a year now so far and more to come. Its really a great site with great members. And I honestly believe that this would increase the traffic here and post counts daily. If need be, I could create a list of awards that we could have and what not. A perfect example of what I'm speaking about is on xbox360achievbements.org. A close friend of mine is a superior mod their as I am a mod in their sister site. Anyhow, each day the traffic is steady and so are the post counts. granted it is about a different subject from here. However, Naruto, bleach, etc.. are animes that have a large fan/follower base. One great example is each day here we get a few new members. Plus what makes this site great is the versatile topics we have. From RPG forums to Movies, music, GFX, gaming, etc..Plus we are more organized and a lot more spam free as well from other anime sites because of the great mods that we have here doing their job. But also, respectful, mature members as well.

I hope this goes through. If Vio needs help just ask. I'm sure their are members here that wouldn't mind to help like Haxxiy.
