I recently got this piece of spyware/adware on my computer, and after researching and trying a ton of different spyware removal tools (ad-aware, spybot s&d, Symantec antivirus, and AVG) in safe mode, it still didn't go away. Even more surprising is the fact that the virus was installed while I was running firefox. I eventually gave up and restored a ghost image of my computer before I got outer info.

Just today I found out that it was installed from a pop-up window on the narutocommunity.net main webpage (the forums are safe though). The popup window asks if you want to install drive-cleaner to remove p*** from you computer, and installs the spyware even if you X out of the pop-up window. Once the pop-up has appeared the only way to prevent Outer Info from installing is to use ctrl+alt+delete and ending the firefox/internet explorer task.

Once outer info has installed, it opens up pop-up windows about once a minute, and many of the windows it opens attempt to install trojans and viruses.

I am posting this to warn people to avoid narutocommunity.net (not necessarily the forums though, the main site is the only place I've gotten the pop-up), and also to see if anyone know how to rid your computer of outer info (you can uninstall it, but the pop-ups continue as if nothing changed).

There is an add-on called Adblock, piece of greatness.

wish i had known about this earlier because i got infected super heavily. Luckly i found a website called geeks2go and i got some help by running hijack scans and they would analyze them and tell me how to fix my computer on my own. You have to be careful though because it comes back if you don't get it all. I thought i got rid of it but 2-3 days later it came back twice as bad. It creates pop-ups mostly when you use the internet and it slows your computer down to something that would have been used in the stone age lol..... still trying to get rid of it now.
