It great annoys me that so few people know who Depeche Mode is, and that very few people have even heard a song by them, so I have done several things to increase Depeche Mode awareness:

Nearly all my ring tones on my cell phone are DM songs
I've let my friends borrow my CDs
I drive around town with my windows down and my music turned up full blast
I talk about them constantly
I randomly break out into song
My signature's "Depeche Mode quote of the day"
And now- this FC

So, does anyone have anything they want to talk about? I don't know how much any of you have really heard of Depeche Mode, since you're all fairly new fans, but I've heard almost every song they've done. I have over 80 of their songs (downloaded from Rapsody, I try to get my music legally when I can) burned onto CD's. Any topic that you three want to bring up (Depeche Mode related would be preferred) is fine with me.

*bangs head against table* I havent heard any...lol, like i said before, i was one who didn't even know who they were until you started talking about them....

lol, okay, I have a fan club made up of mostly people who have never heard a song by the group the fan club's for. That's cool I guess, it's better than not having anyone in the fan club at all.

Okay, so what about the other two of you- what songs (if any) have you heard by Depeche Mode?

Oh, and Kasu, that's really kinda funny you joined the fan club before hearing the music, you'll have to post to tell us what the first Depeche Mode song you hear is, I'd be very interested in finding out. If your interested in FFX (I love FF) and like YouTube at all, there's a fairly good FFX music video to the song "Only When I Lose Myself" by Depeche Mode.

Para, what would you say is their best songs, cause like Kasu i havent heard any before >< ..

Currently, since I'm going through a very dark emo phase in life, my favorite song is a little known one by them called "Free".

Most people I talk to really like "Master And Servant" of course, they're mostly guys and since the topic of that particular song is...well, I think I know why they like it.

If you've never heard anything by them, to get a general feel for their music, I'd say "Enjoy the Silence" is probably a good bet, and one of my favorites is "A Pain the I'm Used To" If you're more into love songs and stuff, "Somebody" and "Only When I Lose Myself"

Okay, in honor of valentine's day (even though it's a creation of the hallmark company, I shall still attempt to celebrate and enjoy it), I'm bringing up the topic of love songs.

Now, since I haven't seen naruto13 in a while, and as far as I know kasu has yet to hear a song, and I don't know how much little hinata's heard, this topic could die very fast, but...

My three favorite are "Somebody", "Only When I Lose Myself", and "The Bottom Line". I'm talking as far as mushy love songs, not like "One Caress", which is awesome, but has a dark little twist in it. But if you want to choose that one, go right ahead. "Somebody"'s probably the most romantic, even with the ending few lines which I find very humorous.

hummm....only if I get to choose what song you listen to because some of Depeche Mode's stuff is....well, not exactly representative of what most of their music sounds like, and I don't want you getting the wrong idea (their first album sounds like a boy band *shivers* I forgive them for that, it was in the early 80's when they were just getting started)

They really are awesome. It's something about a lot of their lyrics- they're just so clever and the poetic form of the songs is cool. They have a very dark aura to most of their songs too.

Ive only heard one song of DM, and that was martyr, its pretty good

Yup, Martyr is one of their newer songs (almost happens to make it on my list of my top 17 favorite Depeche Mode songs, and there's 17 because that's as many as I can fit on one disc). Someone told me they have a few new songs out. Haven't heard any of them yet, will have to look into it.
