Technically the Shukaku is called

Ichiibi - ie, "one tails".

Shukaku is like a nickname, or a personal name, while Ichiibi is a title.

Kyuubi's nickname thing is Yoko - ie, "Demon Fox"

This is the same with the other ones...

Two tails is Nibi no Nekomata - ie "Two Tails Demon Cat" so that's the nibi,

Other than that, it goes Sanbi, - ie "Three tails", etc.

ok, This is starting to piss me off.

If you read the manga then you would know this.

When they show the girl with the 2 tailed cat being sacrificed into the big head it showed a 5th eye opening. What that means that 5 out of the 9 tailed beasts have been extracted. But so far we only know of 2 of 5 that have beenn extraced that we know of. This means that 3 of the tailed beasts were extracted before hand. That may have been confusing, so just look at this.

The Hachibi (eight tails) is based on a snake thingy. But that's on mythology, not offical Naruto stuff. The Rokubi No Raijuu (six tailed thunder animal) is some kinda electric weasel. Again, mythology.

Shichi no Suzaku is also on mythology, a seven tailed pheonix. That's what I know by heart. It can only be assumed, that the bijuu are based on these.

er..i don't think thats true..and yeah..possible all we know so far is the 1 tail,2 tail, 3 tail and the 9 tails..the 4th,5th,6th,7th,and the 8th are all unknown.maybe they'll show up later in the series

Like I said, it can only be assumed. But seeing Kyuubi and Shukaku are based on those mythologies. It would only be right for it to continue on the same path.

i agree on the mythology. i was just wondering...... seeing as the nine tails is the strongest would it be able to take on all the rest ... that is to say when they arn't in hosts

so it would be like 9 tailed fox vs 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 tailed demons

The Kyuubi is without a doubt the strongest. I don't know how the whole strength card is pulled. But i'm sure Kyuubi would croak against 8 demons.

yup i agree with white smoke. The kyuubi would own the other 8 bijuus. It has an unlimited supply of chakra and has a incredible recovery rate.......so i'm sure the other bijuus won't be able to harm it

btw, its obvious for Kyuubi to be stronger than the others,Naruto only used 1 tail of the 9 tails against cs2 sasuke,imagine that..and it has a incredible recovery,like when Sasuke used chidori on Naruto and he recovered in like 1 min

he recovered it in like 5 seconds... its like chidori hit him and boom he heals... wut would have happeed if he went into a nintails state... he would break sasukes legs and arms off and drag him home with his mouth...
