I doubt that very much since I see a lot of kids trying to persuade their parents to buy a console at $600 US ($1000 if in Australia) and their parents think "WTF That is expensive as! I ain't buying that!". You might as well just spend your money on Xbox 360 & Wii for that much.
Sony's impression at E3 wasn't that great, the press conferrence was boring and it didn't show anything appealing. Also I think that Sony is advancing way to far for its own consumers. The jump from DVD to the next generation (HD-DVD & BluRay) does not provide any benefits other than higher resolution.
People who do focus on a console's output resolution to me show that the world has forgotten what gaming is about. All this concern for visuals, and everyone seems to have forgotten to have fun.
Load up any company's website and look at their games descriptions. All you see is "brand new graphics engine" or "cutting edge pixel shaders", "next gen DX10 requirements" blah blah blah. The Wii has had more attention than anything in the last week, and not because of it's graphics, but because it looks like it will be a s***load of fun.
Having said that, the Wii will be a huge success for Nintendo. For starters, it's a well known platform (ie: no need for developers to learn a new system). Secondly, it costs them bugger all to make (ie: no financial loss on sales of consoles ala Xbox and Playstation). And thirdly, with clever innovation and a huge fuss made over the naming scheme, they've managed to get a s***load of attention with very little effort.
