Hyuuga Clan
The Hyuuga clan is an advanced bloodline that currently resides in Konoha. Their advanced bloodline limit consists of the Byakugan. The Byakugan allows it’s user to see 359 degrees around him/her, making it virtually impossible to catch them off guard. The Byakugan is also able to see through just about any object. Trees, walls, even human flesh.
The Hyuuga have a unique fighting style called ’Gentle Fists’ that is only able to be used by a Hyuuga. The Byakugan is able to see a person’s chakra points (tenketsu) and by hitting those points just right you can disable your opponents chakra use. The ‘Gentle Fists’ technique is mainly known for it’s ability to harm an opponent from the inside out.
Along with the Hyuuga’s unique fighting style, they have an unique way of governing their people as well. Although the Hyuuga live in Konoha, how they operate is entirely up to the Hyuuga. There is one Head Family which is also considered to be the ruling family. It is up to the Branch Families (other Hyuuga’s) to protect the Head family. When a child is born into the Head Family the first born becomes a permanent part of the Head Family, but the second or third born will eventually become a part of the Branch Family. Those of the Branch Family are given a type of seal on their forehead, which is supposed to symbolize a caged bird. With this seal if a member of the Branch Family tries to kill a member of the Head Family, the Head Family has the immediate power to destroy them. Also because of this seal, when a member of the Branch Family dies the Byakugan’s secrets die with them. It is said the Uchiha clan’s Sharingan originated from the Hyuuga clan’s Byakugan.

Actually it has not been proven that the Sharigan eye evolved from the Hyuuga eye. If it did evolve shouldn't it have Sauske the abiltiy to see the charka of his apponate yet it only lets him copy their ability. It is true that the Sharigan eye is more powerful that the Hyuuga eye but the idea of evolution is a little questionable.

yeah i do agree that the sharingan could not have evolved from the byakugan since the sharingan copies jutsus while the byakugan does not even come close to doing that as well as the sharingan

It's definitely possible that Sharingan evolved from Byakugan. Sharingan is not necessarily more powerful either. It performs a completely different task. The evolution from Byakugan would have taken place over many, many, many generations.
Anyway, I think that Neji is amazing; but, one must admit that Hinata has definitely come into her own of late. I'm really excited that she's finally breaking from her shell.

good job writing all that info. but wouldn't it have spoilers or something for other people??

my little theory about how the sharingan evolved is that some people from hyuuga were born without knowing taijutsu and was really good in ninjutsu and genjutsu. since they used the "byakugan so much in gen and nin, their eyes turned red and has the black things. THE END

In keeping with the idea that Byakugan has any degrees of vision, I think it would be hard to say just how many there are. If you observe Neji's actions with the Byakugan and the few times that his field of vision is actually shown, you'll realize that he can see in a full sphere (which has innumerable degrees) and not just on all sides (excepting, of course, his blind spot). What I want to know is that if anyone with Byakugan has that blind spot, but can just send chakra along it anyway to detect things, then why don't they. I mean, Neji's always getting pissed because he misses a bird, but he never does that chakra thing to just find it.
And as far as Sharingan evolving from Byakugan, I don't think that it did. First of all, Sharingan has to be "activated" while Byakugan doesn't seem to be. Next, I could never think of a genetic mutation that still survives and is powerful, but downgrades itself. Byakugan can see through things and detect Tenketsu while Sharingan can only see chakra and copy movements.

True it has totally different abilities while the sharingan can copy jutsus the byakugan has 360 or 359 (whatever)degree vision and can see through things, that is completely different it is possible that it evolved from the byakugan but not necessarily more powerful like some of you say.

i say byakugan and sharingan are both equally match since both of them have similar but also at the same time different abilities
karia ithilai
Jan 24 2006, 09:29 AM
actually, its pretty hard to say
the sharingan is probably more effective if you were fighting one single, powerful opponent, as in u can predict their attacks and copy their techniques
the byakugan is better for multiple enemies or fending off enemies w/ special, enveloping techniques
however, both are bloodline limits and activated by concentrating chakra in the eyes - and very powerful
however, there is the Mangekyou (is that spelled right???) Sharingan, which also does something entirely different from the Sharingan itself...so the Sharingan developing from the Byakugan isn't that farfetched, now is it?

And now, to prove my insanity, I present to you thorough explanations of how Byakugan and Sharingan might work if they were real. Mind you, this is just my opinion as a scientist/otaku, so don’t take this too seriously- this is supposed to be as entertaining as it is informative, not a term paper.
Now, Byakugan is the Hyuuga’s bloodline limit, which consists of an all-white eye that enables the user to see 360º (except for one blind spot at the back of the neck), see through solid matter (obviously, as 360º vision would require seeing out of the back of one’s skull), and see Chakra, which is for the most part usually invisible. Alright, now it took a lot of research and spending two hours talking to people smarter than me, I’ve decided that Byakugan IS in fact, theoretically possible. Theoretically.
First of all, let’s begin with the ability to see through things. After much deliberation, I actually found a way for it to maybe be somewhere close to a little bit conceivably possible. That is, Byakugan enables its user to see so precisely one can perceive matter on a quantum scale. Specifically, to be able to see not only individual atoms but the space between them- to the point that with enough focus one can see straight through the very matter an object is composed of.
It’s actually not all that unreasonable, seeing as the eye can detect a single photon of light, I bet with the application of chakra that could be amplified to subatomic levels.
One can assume that this is possible only due to the flexibility of chakra, which I unfortunately cannot gauge the limitations of, as it does not exist scientifically and therefore cannot be measured. Let’s just hope that it works this way, shall we?
Now, you would think that with that out of the way, seeing 360° would be easy to explain, but its actually what took so much time and effort. Now, in order for an eye to be able to see 360°, the pupil would have to take up almost the entirety of the eye, with just a small portion being reserved for the retina as well as where the optic nerves are located.
This would also be the actual blind spot, whereas in the manga it states that the blind spot is behind the first thoracic vertebrae. Minor technicality. Now, since the pupil is what takes in light, for it to extend to the majority of the eye would mean it takes in a lot more light (obviously), which would make the eye extremely photosensitive. This isn’t actually a good thing, as anyone who’s looked directly into the sun can testify. Now, one possible way to overcome this is with a second eyelid, like cats have. But, the eyelid can only cover half of the eye, plus the question of whether the visual information received through the back of the head would be photosensitive. So, we can probably rule out the eyelid theory. The only other way I can think of is if the chakra being focused in the eyes during the activation of Byakugan protects the eye, perhaps as a shield, as well as expands the pupil to the level required for 360° vision.
Also, the eye would have to be perfectly round, as opposed to the normal eye’s egg-shape. Taking aside the Uchiha Clan, the Hyuga-clan is the strongest clan of the Leaf. They are known for their very powerful style of hand-to-hand combat and their bloodline limit of the Byakugan.
The Hyuga-clan consists of two family's: the main family and the branch family. The branch family is bound to protect the main family with their lives. Someone who is born in the branch family will never be the leader of their clan.
To keep the branch family under control and the secrets of the Hyuga-clan secure, all members of the branch family are given a special cursed seal on their forehead. Because of this seal, a member of the main family can easily kill a member of the branch family with a few simple hand movements. Also, when member of the branch family dies, the seal disappears and so does their advanced bloodline. This is to make sure no one will ever learn the secrets of the Hyuga family bloodline. The branch family has always had a grudge against the main family. Hinata's father and Neji's father are twins. But just because off the fact that Neji's father was born a few minutes later then Hinata's father, Neji's father will always be in the branch family and Hinata's father will always be in the main family. Neji's father died protecting the main family. Neji believes it's the fault of Hinata's father, and that's the reason for his hate for the main family.
The Hyuga is one of the strongest clans in the Leaf. They have the bloodline limit of the Byakugan and specialize in Hyuga style taijutsu, also known as gentle fist style. This is the strongest taijutsu style of the Hidden Leaf. The technique is based on the chakra they can release from their hands. This in combination with the Byakugan gives the Hyuga a very powerful advanced bloodline.
Advanced Bloodline Limit: Byakugan
The byakugan is a bloodline based ability only accessible by members of the Hyuga clan. This is the sharingan's predecessor. The byakugan is also a pupil based ability which allows physical, emotional, and mental insight. In terms of insight the byakugan is the most superior of the two. Anyone can recognize it just by looking in the eyes because the Hyuga clan family members all have white eyes. The byakugan itself translates into "white eyes. The sharingan did evolve from the byakugan but they are two different powers. The byakugan does not possess the ability to mimic techniques. But in spite of that, it is still powerful. Like said before, the byakugan is the most powerful in terms of insight.
The byakugan's fearful and devastating ability is that it can see through almost anything. It contains the ability to see chakra holes and openings. The jyuuken, which is the gentle fist type taijutsu, is incredibly effective when combined with the byakugan. The jyuuken is a taijutsu especially for members of the Hyuga clan to learn. First they activate the byakugan by performing a few hand seals. Then the use it to look through the person physically. This way they can see the chakra circulating through the chakra highway in their opponent's body. Then they attack by using the jyuuken type taijutsu and they make sure that they aim for their opponent's chakra openings. The users of the byakugan basically hit their opponents chakra openings directly and they can either stop the chakra flow or redirect it. This stopping of chakra and redirecting it is done by forcing the byakugan user's own chakra into their opponents chakra openings. The size of t hese holes are extremely minuscule. It is incredible for anyone to actually hit those holes considering that they are so small and that there are 361 points in the chakra highway. This is in terms of power and physical insight. The byakugan has the power of mental and emotional insight. It can see what the person feels and is thinking at the moment just by reading their physical and outer gestures. For example, if one of the byakugan users looked into the eyes of their opponent, they could read what they are thinking. By reading what they are doing with their hands and other body movements, they can tell what that person wants to do. The insight of the byakugan is amazing and fearful. This is all in terms of it's power in mental and emotional insight. Another of the byakugan's incredible abilities is that it can see 360 degrees around themselves. This allows them to respond more quickly to oncoming attacks. This also gives the byakugan user's opponent an unusual feeling like that their opponent has eyes on the back of their head. These are the incredible abilities of the byakugan. For all we know, there could be more.

its completely possible that sharingan evolved from byakugan. first of all theyre the only two doujutsus right, and the families originate in the same village, thats a pretty big coincidence. secondly they are both activated by concentrating chakra to your eyes. the byakugan and sharingan are both techniques and just because you come from the family doesnt mean that you use it automatically, first you hafta learn to control it. also, the sharingan evolves as the person gets stronger, with the little dots, and the byakugan can be used for different techniques as you get stronger. theres a lot of similarities so id say definite possibility.

Hinata needs to use 64 palm more, or learn 128 palm. If she did she might be as strong as neji, and maybe even learn kaiten herself (highly doubt it) and it'd be funny if Sasuke could copy 128 or 64 palm

He was joking and Hinata has her own techniqe anyway so sahe really doesn't have to learn the 128 palm
