thousand birds chirp is what chidory means and kakashi gave it a diffrent meaning when he cut lightning in half so they call it lightning blade

It sounds like a Thousand Birds chirping, the attack itself, even if immobile. (Raikiri)

I would assume that if you wanted to give Lightning Edge a specific meaning, it is when Raikiri is used at very fast speeds, fast running and fast arm extension. The speed of the thrust, as you could now cut lightning with Raikiri unless it travelled at lightning-speed.

in principal he doesnt need sharingan,but he needs to thrust the raikiri into the opponent. Therefore he needs the speed to do it n be able to dodge any attack while doing it,Therefore having the sharingan becomes an advantage.
Of course there is another way to do it. The opponent must be held steadily while he can thrust the raikiri(like how he did it with zabuza with his dog summoning holding zabuza)
