there is no snake clan. jiriaya, tsunade, and orochimaru had a blood contract with the animal. remember way back when naruto signed the scroll with his blood? that's what orochimaru did with the snakes. if he did come from a clan it's probably called the lunatic clan...lol

that info on j-man wasthe ledgend he's likely based on not the actual story kishi hasnt given info on the fammily of j-man (and very little of oro) tsunadi is the senju heir (the 1st and 2nds clan) the first was her grandad but 2 be honnest i wouldnt expect much in the way of info about thoes two its kishi's patteren in most main teams their is one that we learn about their fammily and 2 that are given basic background and nothing more (sasuke, naruto, sakura|sandime, other 2 teammates| nedji, rock lee, ten ten)

No, I don't think he is from a clan. His whole snake-like nature is truly due to his experimentations with himself. Other than that and his advance knowledge of techniques (once again, due to experiments). He doesn't seem to be of a clan.

not really.. his snake-like appearance is something he had when he was a child.. he only started becoming the evil character he was was when his parents died i.e. sometime when he was genin... he started experimenting later...

He had the resemblance of a snake and such. But only to an extent. If you look at chapter 344, there isn't much definition of reptilian eyes on the child-Orochimaru. His whole infatuation with white snakes began after the 3rd Hokage spoke to him of it at the sight of his parent's funeral. Jiraiya said earlier that his experimentations began as a way to find a method of resurrecting his fallen parents. It soon turned into a lust for power as he became obsessed with learning every known jutsu in the ninja world. His snake like appearance became more prominent later on as he is able to shed his skin and extend his neck limbs and such.

yeah... but his inherent likeness to a snake was always there... his natural face is very similar to that of a snake's and he develoed jutsu and experimented on himself in order to become more like one... but the likeness was always there... he just needed a push in the right direction...

The likeness was there, but only because of how the artists chose to draw him. They wouldn't have drawn a young Orochimaru and made him look completely different from the older one, correct? Just because he had the resmblence to a snake as a child doesn't mean he was evil or had any evil intentions. If you look at the child Orochimaru and the older Orochimaru, you can see distinct differences on how they are drawn. For example. The younger Orochimaru is drawn with a more "bland" or "innocent" expression while the older one has a sinister one. Another one is that the younger Orochimaru has black eyes while the older Orochimaru has serpent like eyes.

There are a few problems with some of these answers.
This is just a guess, but i believe that all the ninja in the village are part of clans. Whether or not we know about them is another thing. I also dont believe all clans have bloodline traits.

Another thing is, and this amazes me. Akatsuki is an organization, not a clan.

and last is. Any one can summon an animal. They just need to sign the contract, that has nothing to do with clan they are in. ex. Naruto and Jiriaya have no blood relation, and yet they can both summon toads.

Incorrect.... a clan has certain criteria i.e. certain number of generations or number of that bloodline (bloodline meaning blood relatives) and possibly techniques unique to the family (although that is usually a given) i.e. a clan cannot simply be a straight family line... onl;y Tsunade came from a clan (senju) while the other Sannin did not, neither did the Yondaime... the clans of Konoha are almost nobles in a way, taking up positions on the council... a bloodline limit is not necessary as the series shows over and over eg. the Nara, Aburame, Akimichi or Inuzuka clans (I can't remember Ino's *sigh*.. it'll come to me later)... none of these clans have bloodlines but techniques or physical characteristics that are unique or them...

and everybody knows that Akatsuki is an organisation and not a clan.. and whoever thinks otherwise doesn't know sh*t from butterflies...

and not everyone can summon animals and use them... a person also has to be accepted by the boss before that is possible otherwise they'd be restricted to the lower summons which are usually useless... and not every shinobi has the chakra capacity to summon boss or higher summos and use them in battle without almost reaching exhaustion after the actual summoning... all Kage level ninja who use the most powerful summons are freaks after all (most shinobi would only reach chuunin)... Naruto and sasuGay are bigger freaks though... these things said I also feel the need to say that summoning contracts are extremely rare and are usually only found in long established clans so shinobi would never have the opportunity to sign one... I am curious however who held the summoning contracts for the Snake, Slug and Frog summons before the Sannin.. might find out later...

ok, but still anyone can summon an animal. I didnt say they had to summon the bosses, or be recognized by the bosses so they can summon high lvl summons. All i said is that thay can summon an animal.

Also, any one still, if they have the necessary chakra can summon a high lvl animal. ie. the bosses. Wether or not they agree to help is another story all together

hmm... I just didn't get why you said it so I was trying to rationalise it in my head... except for the part about clans your post was kind of off topic... I read some of the previous posts and it didn't seem as if you were refuting anybody either.. and if a post is from a number of months ago there's not much point in correcting them... so I typed some crap off the top of me my head... it's just that due to circumstance not all people can or have the opportunity to summon animals... only a very small do and out of those an even smaller number get the more powerful contracts...
