If you get spyware, popupls, adaware, viruses, trojans, or any other crap that windows users faces, then read this guide!

Adaware SE
SpyBot Search & Destory
Microsoft Antispyware

First off, download these tools, there anti-spyware tools, called adaware, spybot search and destroy, and MS anti-spyware, all of which are free for use. You need to run these tools atleast every month, and make sure there all up to date.

--------

Then for viruses, run these online tools, use atleast 2 of em, and you should run a scan online maybe once every 2 months.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/AntiVirusCntr.asp

---------
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 <---free antivirus

ClamAV <---free open source antivirus, lots of internet servers use this scanner and is very very good happy.gif
ClamAV for other operating systems <---- got linux, mac osx, bsd and need to scan files before you put em on a windows puter? then download the release that goes with ye puter happy.gif

Also download this antivirus and keep it on your computer, it'll give you round the clock protection since its running locally, and its free happy.gif Make sure its up to date, and run a scan every other week, you can set the program to do this automatically.

-----------------
To prevent spyware/ad's from ever getting on your computer then get these tools:

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ <--- don;t ever go back to internet explorer!!!!!

https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/morei...ication=firefox <----stops ads

https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1136 <---keeps adblock up to date

http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10039884.html <--- free firewall

I use all the tools my self, and i get zero ad's/spyware/viruses, and i install it on all of my clients pc's as well happy.gif

Download ad awere it's pretty good!

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Some info! I took it from a site...

"Did you know that someone may
be spying on you right now?"

… watching everything you do on your computer … tracking what sites you visit … where you shop on-line … and possibly even reading your personal documents and email?

It sounds like something out of science fiction, doesn’t it? But the fact is that 9 out of 10 computers are infected with something called spyware which allows companies and individuals to do just that.

Spyware is a huge infringement of your privacy, but did you also know that some of it is even more sinister, able to steal your credit card details and trash your valuable data?

So what is spyware … and why me?

Spyware is software which assists in gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge.

You may have loaded spyware unwittingly, by installing freeware or shareware. Authors of these packages often supplement their income by agreeing to include spyware in their offerings. Or, you may have been targeted just as a result of browsing the web.

Either way, they’ve got you! Your private information is being used without your consent.

How can I tell if I’m being spied on?

These guys are clever. They can spy on you for months, even years, without your knowledge. Some spyware is very low key and you’d never know it’s there. But if you have started receiving ‘junk’ email from people or companies you have never heard of, or if annoying ‘pop ups’ appear when you are browsing the web then there is a fairly good chance that you have spyware on your computer.

And, who knows what other information they helping themselves to? Are you comfortable with the idea that people are watching what sites you visit on the web, looking through your documents and email, or logging your credit card details and selling this information on to other parties?

I also reccomend microsoft antispyware beta. Although it is a beta but whenever something is trying to install into your registry keys it alerts you. So if an adware is installing it will alert you asking if you will allow this or deny it.

Darkness is a friend, an ally. Darkness allows us to understand others, to see what they value when they believe no one else is looking. It allows us to be honest with ourselves, to express those values that we would disavow in the light. The light blinds us. It is only in the dark that we see clearly, and there is a great dark hidden among these worlds.

Hahaha LOL totally missed this topic.
Thanx aniways dude.

btw for spyware i use a dutch program called "hitmanpro" It contains the following progs:

Ad-Aware SE 1.06
Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4
Spy Sweeper 3 and 4
Spyware Doctor 3.2
CWShredder 2.15
SpywareBlaster 3.4
Spyware Block List
NOD32 AntiThreat 2.5
Sysclean Package
SuperDAT VirusScan

The good thing is that it updates and runs them ALL after one click. The bad thing is it takes 45 minutes to run all those programs. But i suppose it should have cleaned all the baka shizzle outta meh puter after 45 minutes.

If someone wants the link:
www.hitmanpro.nl
(its dutch, but you can easily find the dl button)

Bassi, dude didn't you read what shawofoxz wrote, come on you posted multiple times surely you know the answer to that question by now.

if you don't here is you answer: adware is a program that causes ads to display on the computer and Ad-Aware is a program to remove it.

Believe it or not Microsoft actually makes a pretty good AntiSpyware program (named just that: Microsoft Anti-Spyware.) I've found that it works just as a well and sometimes better than Ad-Aware SE . . .

For anti-virus the absolute best is NOD32 . . . Kaspersky and AVG come close, but can't quite reach the level of NOD32.

Firewalls can help ALOT too. On my system with NOD32 + MS Anti-Spyware + Ad-Aware 1.06 + Zonealarm Pro, absolutely nothing gets in that I don't want . . . smile.gif
