Well what to you think? I've seen them labeled metalcore in some places, but they look a emo band sometimes though.

Mainly metalcore with some emo bits. They don't do the stupid whiny emo voice ever. But they have certainly sung about emo things, with emo song structure and the emo acoustic style. At the same time some of their songs are complete metalcore albeit very mainstream metalcore, which is why the are shunned by the metal community.

mmm Yeah man. They are a good band.
I like Darkest Hour. Metalcore which is mixing in Melodic Death Metal. Lots of Metalcore bands are incorporating Melo Death into their sound now. Yeah albums like Slaughter of the Soul became a huge influence in their sound. Bands like Darkest Hour or Black Dahlia Murder are awesome. Killswitch Engage used to have some melodeath bits with their old singer. Fixation on the Darkness is one of the sickest metalcore songs ever.

I haven't listened to any Black Dahlia Murder I must pick some of their stuff up then. I love it when Metalcore mixes in Melo death.

Oh BDM are a nice band they mix a lot of black metal in their songs too and have good lyrics. Another (quite famous) band who mix melodeath and metalcore is Sonic Syndicate, but they're becoming too much mainstream lol

Nahhh, old emo died out. All this new stuff is kinda poppy, FOB isn't emo is it? Just because someone sings about something in their life doesn't exactly mean they're emo. Oldish emo are bands like At The Drive-In etc, not MCR. And the hardcore scene isn't emo, just a bunch of gender confused kids compared to how brutal and raw it was back in the 80's.
I like BFMV, they don't really dress emo though, I have one of the worker's shirts Matt wears, people wear them to Anthrax gigs all the time =P. Plus they're newer stuff has a lot of thrash influence in it. -------------------- |
