Anime and Cartoon

We live in a world were anime is poppular with today socity. Which some of us belive that anime and cartoon are the exact same. In your post please defind the difference between anime and cartoon. Tell us why if they are the same or different. Also plz give us an example in your post weither they are the same or different.

There is so damn big diffrence between them...like I see the american series as batman,superman and spiderman as cartoon and so with Tom and Jerry and so on but for the anime I see Naruto and all those cool series that I can tolerate..lol maybe I am wrong but that what think, hope u got what I mean XD

Both Anime and Cartoons are animation, and both can be either hand drawn or computer animated.
The term "Anime" is just a shortened word for "Animation", and is only applied to things that come from Japan.

Animes' have a distinct story line and their own style which set them apart from cartoons. You would have noticed some of these unique traits on the characters and how they behave, the list includes: big eyes, veins when someone is angry, blushing, the big sweat drop, bleeding from the nose when they are perving or having perverted thoughts, etc.
I also believe that anime is produced on a larger scale than cartoons. There are also different categories which anime can fit in: young boys, older women, young girls, men, etc. as well as their genres'.

Cartoons are cartoons and can be found in most places of the world. From what I have gathered, most, or all, cartoons do not have a distinct story line like animes' do, they are just a collection of smaller stories put together. In lots of cartoons today you can start watching them from any point without the fuss of knowing the history of the character(s).
In most cases cartoons are more realistic, or human, in terms of the character features and actions.
Good examples of cartoons would be Disney cartoons, Simpsons, Family Guy, Spider-Man, South Park, and Tom & Jerry.

Wow the differece between cartoon and anime...

To me there is a HUGE difference. Most cartoons do not have a story line and/or plot.

Even though anime did orginate from american cartoons. One of the first "anime" that was created in japan was because a guy (forgot his name at the moment) liked the old walt disney mickey mouse characters. So the idea of anime did come from america. Its just Japan who took it to a whole different level. While here in america we kept they cartoons "disney"-ish. In Japan they actually added plots. Alot of plots having to do with what was going on at the time (War and so forth). Also Japan has a rich culture in mythology and the fighting arts so those were also intergrated into "anime" which actually originated from the english word animation.

So I believe america had a lot to do with anime. We just didn't bring it to what it is today. Probably because america doesnt really have thousands of years of culture either.

hmmm Anime is like Japanese and story lines,plots,adventure,ect. and Cartoon is like for laughing and sh!t and family stuff XD i dont know but i love both so it doesnt matter but i hate it when people say Bleach or Naruto are cartoons! I HATE THAT!

The way I see it, is anime is for an older audience then cartoons. Generally. But Comics Vs. Manga, that's a different story.
