Not a lot of people seem to have heard of Basilisk, but it is awesome so I though I'd post up a review I found.

Review
In 1614, 73-year-old Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa needs to choose a 3rd successor to the shogun. Unfortunately, both of his grandsons are engaged in a bitter rivalry with each other and any attempt to end the feud diplomatically will fail.

To determine who should be the successor, Ieyasu enlists the help of two rival ninja clans now bound by a peace treaty. His plan is to break the peace treaty between the two and set up a ninja battle with each clan fighting for one of his grandsons. The Kouga clan, lead by Danjo Kouga, will fight for Kunichiyo while the Iga clan, lead by Ogen, will fight for Takechiyo.

Danjo and Ogen were lovers when they were younger but their love was not meant to be. When Danjo's men attacked Ogen's village and killed the village Elder - going against Danjo's orders - she felt betrayed and the two have been enemies since.

Recently, there has been hope that their clans will reunite with the marriage of Danjo's grandson, Gennosuke, and Ogen's granddaughter, Oboro. Things have been peaceful between the two clans in the wake of the highly anticipated union. So, when the Iga clan learns of the ninja battle, they decide to keep it from Oboro - who, they are certain, will do everything in her power to stop them - and start killing off Kouga clan members secretly.

There are 24 Episodes in total. The graphics for this anime are very detailed, its also very violent and has a good storyline with a few unexpected twists.

This is the best anime I have seen. The way I found out about it was through www.animeyume.org, it was 2nd place in the Top 100, so I thought I'd download it, but I never expected it to be as good as it was.

Thanks for the review. I've always preferred my anime set in feudal Japan with samurais and ninjas. Sounds like an anime I'll go hunting for.

I just finished watchin the is anime and all i can say is wow!!!!!!!!!! its not often that i watch an anime thats got like 50+ eps an i dont lose interest in it.. and the movie is great 2 its set 2 years after the anime.... i give this anime 10/10 anyday!

Dam I seem to be the only one to say "it's crap".
I don't like ti at all. Let see, reasons:
- Drawing is not done well.
- Jitsu are well, stupid and to much over the top.
- The only story there is is about hatred between two clans. No philosophy, no deeper meaning. Just simple hatred.

But that's just me.

Basilisk is a great animes to watch and it have only 24 episodes and doesn't go on and on like other animes shows, and how all of them are different type of ninjas. the intro for the anime is great too

What? The anime is supposed to be 24 episodes long, not 50+. What anime are you talking about?



Damn, Jaro you seem to have similar tastes in anime as I do, ao maybe this might not be a good sign for me. And I usually dont like animes when the only thing it is fueled by is hatred. I like the animes with a little more deeper meaning, it gives you something to hold on to, even if the episodes arent packed with action or good plot twists.

I will try this one out, as I have been looking at reviews and ratings for it, but I will go into it with low expectations. Ill see what happens.

I liked this anime. Its not my favorite by far but its bloody, which I liked. I feel bad for the two main characters. Some call it an anime Romeo & Juliet version.

I have all the episodes and I have to say that even the intro is nicely done.

As a whole the Show is; SHORT AND SWEET.
Basically the Romeo and Julliet version of very violent anime.

For the fans of Basilisk who didn't know about the live action movie.

Every one should see it.
